This is an image I've been wanting to paint for a while. I like trying to achieve the different textures ranging from the sand, to the water, and then rocks. Hopefully will be done soon!

This is a painting I started in 2010 and just never finished. I came so close but just lost momentum due to other projects yet I constantly find myself going back and reflecting upon it. In many ways its a self portrait as well as an illustration about fear playing such a strong role in our lives. I wanted to portray the idea that any minute could be your last. If you are constantly living in fear your life will pass you by and you'll be blinded to opportunities, people, and events that come your way. In the painting the coins are taped to the eyes in preparation to pay the ferry man on the river styx if the figure is to meet his untimely demise as well as act as a blinding device that is always present. Perhaps I shall finish one day soon!

Controversial Images

This was conceived as a self promotional T-shirt design until I stepped back and realized how loaded the image really was. I've kept it in the closet for about a year but I think its a great example of taking a complex idea (the economic and social state of America) and trying to get to the true essence of a the situation (we're in trouble). I think the aggressive application of the paint really makes the illustration that much more unsettling and effective.
